{"id":2132,"date":"2019-06-11T08:21:44","date_gmt":"2019-06-11T08:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eurofoam.uperc.net\/?p=2132"},"modified":"2019-06-11T08:22:48","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T08:22:48","slug":"ugandan-blood-bank-receives-boost-from-eurofoam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurofoam.co.ug\/ugandan-blood-bank-receives-boost-from-eurofoam\/","title":{"rendered":"Ugandan blood bank receives boost from Eurofoam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Uganda Blood Transfusion Services(UBTS) received a major boost in their blood banks by receiving a donation of 45 units of blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The donation, which took place in\nEurofoam head office in Kampala on 15<sup>th<\/sup> Feb\n2019, an employee participation activity consisting of all Eurofoam\nstaff . The donation was &nbsp;a response&nbsp; to a nation wide appeal by the UBTS to\nreplenish its depleting blood banks in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking during the function, Eurofoam\nGeneral Manager Mr Hemal Pandya, lauded Eurofoam\nstaff for their selfless and voluntary act of contributing towards sustainable\nsolutions towards blood shortages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to directly contribute\ntowards blood sustainability in Uganda to ensure blood sufficiency and zero\ndeaths associated with unavailability of blood for transfusion to patients. I\nencourage other entities and partners to contribute blood in this cause to save\nlives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the World Health\nOrganization (WHO), blood is an important element for survival, lack of it,\nthereof, is definite demise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women and children are the most\nsusceptible to blood shortages, thus, are the biggest beneficiaries of blood\ndonations. Other beneficiaries include patients suffering from non-communicable\ndiseases such as anaemia, kidney or liver disease, cancer or survivors of road\naccidents and other medical emergencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WHO estimates that the country would\nclaim blood sufficient if 1% of the 44 million Ugandan population donates at\nleast once a year. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Uganda Blood Transfusion Services(UBTS) received a major boost in their blood banks by receiving a donation of 45 units of blood.
